“If a kid has this beautiful vision of how a violin should sound, and that's to beat it with a log, but then his teacher says, ‘Hey, you can't beat that violin with a log,' the kid should say, ‘No, I want to paint my violin purple and beat it with a log,' ” James said. “It's not about perfection. It's about doing the best you can and enjoying the experience.”
